Many thanks to Phil and Nora Bayer for the warm hospitality they gave us this past weekend. We had a successful trip to Minneapolis but it would not have been as much fun nor as comfortable without the food, shelter and love from our favorite Minnesota family. Give our best to Tommy, Danny and Mark.

YellowHammers 1st Thursdays at Friendly Tap

First Thursday at Friendly Tap has been an ongoing monthly event since March 2005. The tradition began when the band was drinking ‘shorties’ with Danny the bartender. Danny suggested the boys set up right next to the front door and practice new songs while having a personal mixologist by their side. With a capacity of 60, the tavern offers an intimate perspective into the creative process within the Yellowhammers. Don’t just observe their next show, literally rub elbows with the band. “First Thursday at Friendly’s, where the front door is back stage.”

Yellowhammer’s latest CD release will be available in the Fall of 2009. Eleven new tracks are featured on the disc, produced by Jon Langford (Mekons, Waco Bros). This is the band’s fourth release and their first collaboration with Langford. With such subjects as our weary planet, the king of rock and roll and precinct corruption, the band delivers adventurous contemporary arrangements rooted in traditional instrumentation.
